Increased Extract Runs from GP Practices

It has been confirmed that over 500 practices are now sending ECS (and ePCS / KIS) information every 2 hours from GP Practices as part of the process to increase the extract runs and make this inforamtion available as soon as possible.

Boards that have completed this work for all practices are NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS Tayside, NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Borders and NHS Western Isles.

Plans are in place to roll this process out to all remaining GP Practices over the coming weeks, and more information will be shared on the impact this is having on ECS in due course.

Can users access ECS through EDIS (the national A/E system?)

Yes, EDIS has been fully integrated with ECS for at least 3 years and should be a standard part of the system. The button for ECS can be activated once the patient’s name and DoB are confirmed. HOWEVER – EDIS will not be integrated with KIS and there are no plans to develop EDIS further particularly as many boards are moving to Trak or alternative systems.

KIS BLOG

Featured

There have been lots of requests for updates and information on the progress of ECS, PCS and KIS so the simplest thing seems to be to take advantage of the latest technology and try out a blog. What I intend to do is gather together historical information on the history of ECS and publish it in chronological order for reference. From now on, everyone involved in the development of the electronic Palliative Care Summary (ePCS) the Key Information Summary (KIS) and the extension of ECS access will be able to add in up to date information on their projects and answer any questions that are asked. Catagories will be able to filter relevant postings into order, and editing rights will ensure that no offensive comments are left for others to read. Please feel free to comment or post queries and we will do our best to reply.
